About

Dr. Jay Wang is a professor at the Programs of Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering Technology, Louisiana Tech University, and he holds the Bobby E. Price professorship. He teaches Fundamentals of Geotechnical Engineering, and Foundation Engineering, etc., for undergraduate and graduate students. He is a professional engineer, and he is registered in Louisiana.
 
Dr. Wang has conducted significant research in the areas of Geotechnical Engineering and computational modeling, etc. He has developed expertises and skills in pile foundation engineering, soil-structure interaction, pore water-soil interaction, and slope stability analyses, etc. He has made his major achievements in the prediction of pile setup, and identification of failure mechanism of the breached levee system in New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina.
 
Currently, Dr. Jay Wang is dedicated to the research on the impact of expansive soils on pavement and shallow foundations, and the erosion resistance of vegetation on wetland loss in Louisiana coastal area.  The methodology developed for analyzing the load and stress in pavement induced by heave/shrinkage of expansive subgrades is in the  process of being implemented in engineering design.
