About
Joel L. Stake is Director of the Honors College and a Distinguished Lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences at Louisiana Tech University, where he has been a faculty member since 2015. Dr. Stake's research focused on the evolution and systematics of Caribbean reef-building corals species, utilizing molecular and morphological approaches to understand coral diversity, species boundaries, and classification. He teaches honors and non-honors courses ranging from introductory biology to specialized topics in coral reef conservation. Throughout his career, Dr. Stake has demonstrated a commitment to experiential learning, having led study abroad courses in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Italy, and China.
