Research interests

Dr. Matthew Thornton completed his Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2005. He is licensed as a professional counselor (LPC) and marriage and family therapist (LMFT). As an American Association of Marriage and Family Therpay Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor, Dr. Thornton draws on over two decades of cliinical practice and experience in his role as director and faculty member. His research interest include nonprofit and community-based organization leadership, clinical supervision, and the implementation and evaluation of programs for children involved in the mental, juvenile justice, and child welfare systems. He teaches courses in Human Development and Family Science. Dr. Thornton is passionate about mentoring the next generation of leaders who will strengthen families, organizations, and communities across Louisiana and beyond.
