Megan Smith

Dr. Megan R. Smith is the Debate Coach and a Communication Instructor at Louisiana Tech University.

Dr. Smith is from Mamaroneck, New York. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She was a member of the  National Championship LATech Debate Team and writer for The Tech Talk.

She from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a master’s degree in communication studies. Her thesis was an ideological analysis of al Jazeera’s coverage of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. As a graduate student, she was the assistant debate coach of the national award-winning ULM Debate Team.

Her doctorate is in Education from Louisiana Tech University. Her dissertation was on constructing social media content for millennial alumni.

She previously taught at Texas A&M International University, Northwest Technical School, Bossier Parish Community College, Barksdale Airforce Base, Northwestern State University, and ULM.

During her time coaching debate, she has coached three National Champions.
